Holiday Décor Tips You’re Sure to Love
The holidays are upon us – which means it’s time to decorate! Whether you prefer traditional décor, or something with a more modern twist, here are a few fun and fresh holiday decorating ideas to make your home a holiday haven everyone will enjoy.
An upcoming trend we saw at High Point Market in October, and one we love introducing for the holidays – try mixing in a metal, such as bronze or rose gold. The addition of an unexpected color will give your décor a whole new look and feel. And this trend allows you to keep an overall traditional feel with greens and reds, while adding just the right amount of twist to make it feel unique and unexpected. An easy way to apply this look – add candlesticks in the metal of your choice to your table spread. Candlesticks in different heights will add dimension and create a layered feel to your space. This is one look that will have you on the trendsetter list for sure.
Now let’s get hanging! Whether it is from the ceiling or windowsill, hanging holiday décor will bring cheer to any room. Consider over-sized snowflakes from the ceiling, which are easy to make, or inexpensive to purchase. They look great over a dining table or in an entryway. Or, you could hang something sweet! Candy canes aren’t just a tasty treat, they make great décor. Hang them from ribbons on your mantle or windowsills for some extra cheer. And don’t worry about matching your ribbon – using several different patterns and styles gives a fun eclectic feel!
Moving on to everyone’s favorite decorating spots – mantles and banisters. For an elegant look on your mantle, consider trading in your garland for candlesticks, or just add them in around your garland. Again, using different shapes and sizes will give a more dimensional feel. Mix in some red and green objects or ornaments to add festivity. If you want to change your banister from your traditional décor, mix in ornaments, fresh pinecones, or best of all, hang your holiday cards with some ribbon. These are fun little surprises that don’t cost a lot, and add a nice touch to these holiday decor hot spots.
And for those who love DIY projects, try collecting all of your unused ornaments and gluing them together into a wreath or unique design for your table or mantle. The possibilities are endless with this fun project. Lastly, distribute small trees throughout the house. Decorate each with a different theme or just keep them simple with some lights. Either way they help spread cheer throughout your home.
Happy holidays and happy decorating to all!
