Elements of Couture
Whether in the world of fashion or window treatments, couture is “made to order” using high quality fabrics sewn with extreme attention to detail to achieve a “one of a kind” treatment for our client.
Couture treatments always include interlining; a third layer that adds body and fullness, it also aids with room darkening. Often our draperies are contrast lined to be as beautiful on the outside as inside. The embellishments of trims, tassels, banding and custom hardware help to complete our design vision.
EDUCATING THE CUSTOMER
We educate our clients on the various ways to personalize their homes. Together we create the perfect finish that completes their one of a kind design that is synonymous with Today’s Home.
Today’s Home is famous for elegantly appointed custom made window treatments. As a ball gown is to couture fashion, the design that is crafted in the salons of Today’s Home is the epitome of couture for windows.
Although we work to the highest standards, we can also meet a client’s budget. We do standard custom pleated sheers on traverse rods; as well as design swags and cascades arranged on faux finished pole sets.
FAMILY GREAT ROOM AND TWO-STORY ENTRY
The grand-scaled treatments enhance and compliment the height and drama of the room and Today’s Home furnishings. Stylish 3″ pole sets were selected to bear the weight of the long draperies.
The LILLIAN AUGUST tapestry fabric was contrast lined with MICHAELS TEXTILE Shalimar cloth. Braided tricolored trellis design fringe from SCALAMANDRE was sewn along the leading edge and hem. The two-story draperies are tied back with companion Asian charm embellished tasseled cords.
BREAKFAST ROOM WINDOW SEAT AND CORNICE
Turkish tapestry fabric by SHERRILL inspired the design of the custom-shaped cornice and window seat. Both cornice and panels are embellished with ROBERT ALLEN braid and cord and a companion frogged-tassel hangs from the center of the cornice.
DINING ROOM AND SITTING AREA WINDOWS AND UPHOLSTERY
Traditional styled draperies in BAKER wine plaid silk are complimented by an intricate tricolored, alternating tassel tieback by KRAVET.
Twin love seats flank candy striped silk covered tufted ottoman that was reupholstered in BEACON HILL fabric with the coordinated tassel trim featured in the drapery. The matching candy striped silk boxed toss pillows are a miter cut design with bias cut welt and self-covered rosette button.
POTPOURRI OF VALANCES
- Urbanely sophisticated silk striped roman shades are deliberately constructed in an informal fashion.
- Ultra feminine silk shantung powder room valance is fastidiously tied up with a bow.
- Guest room valances feature a perfectly positioned toile that is cut to highlight the medallion and urn pattern.
- Whimsical scarf valance in pearled silk and matching fringe evokes a youthful nonchalance when casually tied onto antique style glass knobs.
- The traditional swag and cascade treatment have been re-designed to artfully portray a comfortable and casual look.
THE HAND OF THE INSTALLER
After a window treatment is completed in our workshop, it is entrusted to our installer and delivery associate, who is an artist in his own right. He takes the vision from the designer and seamstress and carefully installs and presents the final product. Without an expert installer, we could not bring our full vision to life.
Careful placement of valance with extra long and intricate fringe within the steep pitch.
Casual valances pulled through corner brackets.
2-story valance each fold intentionally placed to enhance the subtle stripe of the silk fabric.
