Buying a New Sofa

Buying a new sofa can be confusing! Why does one cost more than the other? The fabric looks the same….
Here are some hints: quality sofas usually have springs in the base that are tied 8 different directions to give an even sit. They have hard wood frames and fully stuffed seat and back cushions. Seat cushions may have springs and or foam and down stuffed in them. Fabric patterns will match going down the sofa.
Sinuous springs or zigger springs – a flat zig-zag set of springs running front to back in the base , are generally used in more moderate quality upholstery. It has a softer sit. Cushions are generally all foam with a batting wrap. Fabric matching can be limited.
Web suspension is usually found in the less costly upholstery.Flat webbing runs front to back, side to side. Cushions are foam and batting.

Budget has a lot to do with your purchase. The cushions in better sofas will stay in shape better than something lower price. Purchasing the best you can afford will give you many years of comfort.
