Every designer has their own way to adding a personal touch to a clients’ project. Personal touches are what’s known as the glue that holds the design together. They help the client feel like the interior designer is dedicated to their project and they also allow the client to instill trust with the designer in their space! For me, I like to hand sketch a perspective of the room with what I envision the space to look like! Hand sketching is an art, and a talent. While not all designers possess the skill to do perspective drawings, they do have the skill to draw up a quick floor plan! I, however, have dedicated time to learning how to do perspective rendering. It has actually become quite a passion of mine! As designers, we always come across the clients that do not understand what we are envisioning for the space. They have a hard time visualizing because not everyone has a visual mind! Most of the time, clients are found to be more comfortable with the process when they can see a physical representation of what the space will look like. So, to ease all pressure, I do a nice hand sketch of the space to create a “wow impact”. A wow impact usually entails the clients’ response of “Wow! I had no idea the space could look like that!” which then allows the designer to comfortably move forwards with the rest of the design process! So next time you are working with a client, do a perspective drawing and add that personal touch to the project! It’s imaginative!
